ALS Restaurant Review #3

The best part of this project is going to restaurants and viewing them in new ways.  This week, we returned to my absolutely favorite restaurant.  And here is what we found:
SEASONS 52
My wife and I discovered Seasons 52 about four years ago at the recommendation of, believe it or not, a dietician.  We went, enjoyed, and kept returning.
Seasons 52 is located at Keystone at The Crossing in Indianapolis.  It is a freestanding building.  Go to the first traffic light in the shopping center, turn left and follow the road to the entrance to the restaurant.  There is ample handicapped parking on the west side of the building.  Go around the back, turn left and there you will find it.
The front door is manageable; but as usual, there is no automatic door opener so it’s always best to go with a companion.  The car valet will open the door for you, as will the hostess--if she sees you.
The restaurant takes reservations and I strongly recommend that you make one.  When I make my reservation, I always ask for a booth.  I have an easier time transferring from my scooter to the booth than to a chair at a table.  A helpful hint:  if the hostess is heading toward the back of the restaurant, ask her to guide you through the bar.  It is much easier to maneuver your walker, scooter, or chair through that area than through the main dining room.  You will end up in the same place, but much less stressed.
The service is uniformly friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.  The surroundings are soothing, and you can carry on a conversation without raising your voice.  The menu is wide ranging and varies with the seasons.  There is an extensive wine list.
Here’s the best thing.  The portions are exactly right.  You will not leave hungry, nor will you feel stuffed.  A perfect example of this restaurant’s commitment to moderation is its desserts.  They are small, each is delicious, and just enough for a bit of sweetness at the end of a very satisfying meal.
Seasons 52 is not inexpensive, but neither will you feel taken advantage of.  The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent and you always feel as if they are truly glad to see you.
More on access.  I’ve mentioned the front door, handicapped parking, and the best way to maneuver within the restaurant.  Now, on to the bathroom.  While there is no automatic door opener  (surprise, surprise) the door is extremely easy to open while seated in my scooter.  The handicapped stall is spacious, the grab bars are within easy reach to assist me off the scooter, and getting my scooter out of the stall was a breeze.  I thought the sinks were easy to use, and getting out of the bathroom was as easy as getting in.
I really like Seasons 52.  The next time you want to try something a little upscale, give it a shot.  I think you will be very happy with the experience.

I would like to do more, but until I see an automatic door opener, Seasons 52 rates only 3 ½ scooters.
