This week I visited an old friend.  It’s been awhile since I’ve seen my friend; indeed we haven’t been together since I got my scooter.  I was afraid my friend would no longer want me around, that my old friend could no longer handle the new me. Boy, was I ever wrong.  My old friend  used our time apart to grow and expand.  What had been a narrow room crammed with rickety tables and chairs had doubled in size, added booths, and wide aisles. Fellow Warriors, let me present my old friend--the new and vastly improved: BISCUITS Biscuits is located at the far west corner of the strip mall immediately west of Broad Ripple High School along Broad Ripple Avenue.  It has always had a wide ranging menu and has added a full service bar.  When I say wide ranging, I am exaggerating a bit (well, maybe more than a bit).  If you visit Biscuits you would do well to be hungry for either Mexican or breakfast food.  Somehow this combination really works...

STEVE'S ALS RESTAURANT REVIEW #4

‘Tis the season.  Mistletoe and holly, crowded shopping centers, struggling with the Christmas tree, and holiday parties. This year, as in several years past, our office held its annual holiday party at FOGO DE CHAO Throughout the rest of this review, I will refer to the restaurant has “Fogo”. Fogo is located in downtown Indianapolis, at the corner of Washington Street and Virginia Avenue.  Because of its location, access is going to be a challenge—unless you are as lucky as were we.  Immediately around the corner on Virginia Avenue is a handicap parking spot—the only one that we saw.  If you are fortunate enough to grab the spot, you will end up in the street until you get to the accessible curb at the corner of Washington and Virginia.  If there is no handicapped slot available, you will be well advised to use the car valet.  I did not see any parking garages close by.  Even with the valet though, you will still need to travel a bit to get t...

ALS Restaurant Review #3

The best part of this project is going to restaurants and viewing them in new ways.  This week, we returned to my absolutely favorite restaurant.  And here is what we found: SEASONS 52 My wife and I discovered Seasons 52 about four years ago at the recommendation of, believe it or not, a dietician.  We went, enjoyed, and kept returning. Seasons 52 is located at Keystone at The Crossing in Indianapolis.  It is a freestanding building.  Go to the first traffic light in the shopping center, turn left and follow the road to the entrance to the restaurant.  There is ample handicapped parking on the west side of the building.  Go around the back, turn left and there you will find it. The front door is manageable; but as usual, there is no automatic door opener so it’s always best to go with a companion.  The car valet will open the door for you, as will the hostess--if she sees you. The restaurant takes reservations and I strongly recommend t...
